The Christmas decorations are hanging in the shopping centres and the Christmas aisles are filled with every type of decoration imaginable. I walk through and usually I will find something I like and may buy but I am not a huge fan of the quirky decorations, like mushrooms or a soccer ball. I am more of a traditionalist and like my tinsel, lights (I even have lights that look like candles!) and lots of baubles. Mini Me loves helping me decorate the tree and the baubles in particular are easy and quick for her to hang up so she is always eager to help me do them. Along with my traditional items I do usually buy a special decoration each year that has a special meaning to me. Such as when eldest Mini Me was born I bought some white booties saying “Baby’s First Christmas 2009″, so this year having two Mini Mes I was so delighted when I was offered a special handmade ceramic photo bauble from Marthese at Romantic Flair Original.

I have never had a personalised Christmas decoration before so I thought I would have to get my thinking cap on to create something beautiful and meaningful to hang on my tree for years to come, but Marthese made it so easy to order my bauble and select the colours, ribbon, images and words that it wasn’t difficult or too much thinking at all!

The hardest part is choosing your design or photo. Marthese has so many bauble design choices in both Christmas and other designs that you could easily order a whole set of baubles. Once you have selected your design or image you then choose the background colour, the ribbon colour, the message on the bauble (if you want one) along with the colour of the text and if you want it gift boxed.

Once I got a photo of the girls together that I was happy with, I emailed it to Marthese and then choose my colour combination of a garnet red background and red ribbon. However what was great, was as Marthese creates her baubles, if she feels that different colour combinations work better, then she will email you, let you know what it looks like and give you some new options. I thought this was fantastic of Marthese, because as much as I love shopping online sometimes it can be hard to picture how something will look in your head and with Marthese putting it together she can see it and see what works best. So with Marthese’s suggestion of a pink ribbon, I only had to add my personalised message of “One of the greatest gifts of all, is a child’s smile on Christmas morning”. Marthese then sent me a preview of what my new bauble would look like and once I gave my tick of approval, a couple of weeks later I had my gorgeous handmade bauble! Brilliant!

The baubles are ceramic so they need to be put out of the reach of little hands, to make sure this treasured keepsake stays in one piece. The baubles are not only lovely for you to own but a perfect gift for Nan & Pop or any close family member. Both the personalised and non-personalised hand made baubles would also make a lovely and affordable gift for Teachers (as much as Teachers LOVE chocolate, short bread, mugs and tea towels, this would make a beautiful and different gift).
Using different designs like, babies, bears, Australiana, animals and birds, Marthese has made the baubles for naming days, christening, memorial days, in memory of people and gifts for special friends, really the imagination is the only limitation.
